FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT WILL I BE DOING IN THERAPY?
  • Treatment will begin with a comprehensive, individual evaluation, which includes reviewing your medical history and ensuring that evidence based psychotherapy is appropriate for you. This evaluation will last 60 minutes.  Before the end of this evaluation, we will work together with you to start forming goals and a treatment plan collaboratively.
  • Follow-up sessions will include answering your questions and giving feedback to ensure the treatment plan and goals are giving you the tools and success you are looking for.
  • Our goal is to use your strengths and resilience, combined with our expertise, to result in successful outcomes and gain the skills you need to get a good night’s sleep. Change can be difficult, and the best way to ensure your success is by creating and completing a workable plan together.

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT LAST?
  • Individual treatment will typically last 3-10 sessions to reach better quality sleep.

WHAT IF I'M NOT JUST STRUGGLING WITH A SLEEP DISORDER?
  • We firmly believe that healthy sleep habits can lead to the alleviation of a host of issues that cross over mental and physical health domains including depression, anxiety, headache and stress management, life transitions and chronic pain.
  • If your treatment goals involve more than improving sleep, additional sessions may be needed and will be discussed during the intake and as treatment progresses.

DO YOU OFFER TELE-HEALTH AND VIRTUAL OPTIONS?
  • Yes! In-person, Telehealth, and virtual options are available for both intake and follow-up sessions. A link will be provided to you prior to your visit. A private, quiet place, a cell phone or computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection are what you’ll need to have a successful tele-health session.
  • Dr. Shannon Jewell-Jones exclusively offers virtual appointments.
HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY COST?
  • Session fees for Dr. Gress Smith and Dr. Shannon Jewell-Jones are:
    • $220 for the 60 minute intake, or initial, session, with $50 collected when the appointment is scheduled.
    • $180 for the 45-50 minute follow-up individual sessions
    • $100 for a group therapy format

WHAT WOULD A GROUP THERAPY OPTION LOOK LIKE?
  • Group therapy may also be available for CBT-I and would involve 5 group sessions and each session would last 75-90 minutes.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
  • We do not take insurance and we are considered out-of-network providers.

WHY DON'T YOU TAKE INSURANCE? ARE THERE OTHER WAYS TO PAY FOR THERAPY?
  • Insurance companies' reimbursement rates are often prohibitive for the amount of time we prefer to spend with patients to provide detailed assessment and care.  Insurance companies can also dictate the amount and frequency of treatment, and may require a mental health diagnosis to allow coverage. However, out-of-network status claims are often reimbursed 50-100%. The correct paperwork and support will be provided to help you file your claim.  It may be helpful to contact your insurance provider and inquire about out-of-network reimbursement rates.
  • You may also want to check with your employer to see if they have an EAP, or Employee Assistance Program, which can help subsidize or even cover the cost of a mental health counselor.
  • Consider using your health savings account (HSA), which is pre-tax, to cover session costs.
  • Think of therapy as an investment in your mental and physical health that can pay off exponentially in the years to come. Spending the time and resources now can help increase your productivity and satisfaction at home, work, and other areas of your life.

IS ARIZONA SLEEP & HEALTH A GOOD FIT FOR ME?
